Lightweight hardwood shutters
Although a hardwood, it is also very light enabling us to use it for large installations where weight would preclude the use of some of the other shutter materials. The timber will when stained, match most other timbers accurately while the grain, reminiscent of oak appears rich and exuberant even when painted. Paulownia hardwood shutters
This is a new range of shutters made from Paulownia which is a high grade, strong, lightweight, warp-resistant hardwood. The fine grain texture, knot-free appearance and low oil content make it the perfect timber to be stained or painted. There are 21 paint colours and 13 wood stains to choose from and three different louvre sizes. These shutters are ideal for large windows and shapes such as circles and triangles as both the frames and panels are made from hardwood. Paulownia is also from a fully Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) source which means that it comes from a certified sustainable source. Made from White teak farmed in Sumatra this material is a truly premium quality hardwood whilst also being from a sustainable source. Consisting of a timber core with a synthetic (ABS) water resistant surface, these shutters are designed for use where high humidity resistance or durability is required e.g. bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms, and sometimes rental properties - A standard bathroom shutter with standard tilt rods typically costs £403 per square metre.
